BLOOMINGTON, Minn. The Works Museum will host its annual Tech Fest family event on Saturday, February 8. With dozens of hands-on activities led by real scientists, engineers, and educators, families will spend the day learning and exploring together. This is the 16th year that The Works Museum has hosted Tech Fest. At this day-long event, partners from Minnesota businesses and academia will showcase their work and bring
kid-friendly activities that demonstrate the ways that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) fields impact the world around us. Kids will have the chance to try their hand at activities like building bridges, virtual reality demonstrations, DIY flashlights, miniature motors, and more.
She Engineers
This year, The Works Museum will kick off its brand new She Engineers programming at Tech Fest. She Engineers is part of the Museum’s initiative to engage girls in meaningful experiences with STEM. Working closely with schools and non-profit partners, She Engineers provides in-person experiences with women volunteers, enabling girls to envision what their future in STEM could be. The program also helps to reduce economic barriers by providing select community partners free admission to Tech Fest.
“Tech Fest is one of our favorite days of the year, and we’re thrilled to be launching She Engineers at the same time,” says Jill Measells, CEO of The Works Museum. “We’re proud to have a role in breaking down barriers to participation in STEM. This event is a lot of fun for families, but more importantly, it’s an opportunity for kids to discover new interests and possibilities for their future.”
