O'Shea Irish Dance is led by director Cormac O'Sé T.C.R.G., original cast member of Riverdance & native of Dublin, Ireland. Cormac comes from a deep pedigree with the legendary Scoil Rince Uí Shé of Dublin, Ireland, taught by his parents for the last 48 years. He can be seen in the original film, Riverdance, The Show and four other film productions.
Established in 2005, OID provides Irish dance classes and training for the demanding and technical art form of traditional and competitive Irish Step dance where dancers train as artists, musicians, and athletes. Teaching ages three to adult, OID instructors inform the whole dancer to train a healthy body in strength, flexibility, and fitness as well as a healthy mind in confidence, discipline, and performance.
Cormac is a T.C.R.G. (certified instructor with An Coimisiún Le Rinci Gaelacha) qualified instructor which is required for a school's students to compete in Irish dance.
OID's Minnesota dancers have achieved 9 Regional Solo Championship titles, 2 Regional Ceili Titles, 4 National Championship Titles and 6 top-ten placements in the World Championships bringing the only 2 world globes home to the state.
O’Shea Irish Dance features their dancers in performances throughout the year, and produces two professional, full-length theatrical shows annually at several Twin Cities venues, including Stepping Stone Theater, Chanhassen Dinner Theater, and the Fitzgerald Theater. About the Celtic Junction Arts Center
Mission and History
The Celtic Junction Arts Center (CJAC) was founded in 2016, with a mission to celebrate, promote, and preserve cultural arts and community. The four arms to the organization are:
Celtic Junction Concert Series (CJCS) which presents local, national, and international traditional music concerts and original theater with Celtic themes
Eoin McKiernan Library (EML), an Irish heritage and arts library established with a book bequest from Eoin McKiernan, one of Minnesota’s greatest champions of Irish art and culture
Irish College of MN (ICMN) which offers year-round classes in Irish language and literature, creative writing, drawing, and more
Irish Outreach Coalition (IOC) which brings performances of Irish dance, music, and language to the wider community
CJAC is the nonprofit heart of The Celtic Junction, a brick and mortar building bought in 2009 by Irish immigrant, dancer, and musician Cormac O’Se and his Minnesota-born wife, playwright and theater director Natalie O’Shea, to house local Celtic arts organizations. CJAC’s unifying vision is to fuel the growth of Celtic arts with exceptional programming and connect our evolving community in a central home.
Since 2009, The Celtic Junction been home to three independent arts organizations: O'Shea Irish dance, Center for Irish Music, and Irish Fair of Minnesota. We collaborate with these organizations regularly, and they form the core of the Irish Outreach Coalition.
Other independent arts groups also use The Celtic Junction space including Keane Sense of Rhythm, Wild Goose Chase Cloggers, Loma Mor Set Dance, Celtic Phoenix Theatre, and Scottish Highland Dance.
In 2018, CJAC won IrishCentral's Creativity and Arts Award for the Best Irish American Center.
