NORTHERN SODA AND WINTER CARNIVAL COLLABORATE
TO CREATE LIMITED-EDITION SODA TOASTING THE FESTIVAL’S 135TH ANNIVERSARY

Once again, two local organizations are coming together to support each other: Northern Soda Company and the Saint Paul Winter Carnival. For the second year in a row, Northern Soda has created a limited-edition themed soda for “The Coolest Celebration on Earth™” – announcing Saint Paul Winter Carnival Minnesota Birch Beer!
To launch the official first sale of the newest Winter Carnival flavor, Northern Soda will host a curbside Pop-Up Pick-Up opportunity at the Northern Soda headquarters in Arden Hills, Minn. on Saturday, Dec. 12 from11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Members of the Winter Carnival Royal Family and Vulcans will be on hand for the occasion to greet customers.
“Our connection with the team at the Saint Paul Winter Carnival is special for us at Northern Soda,” says Davod Zarghami, co-owner of Northern Soda. “The pandemic served as a strong reminder of the importance of relationships. We couldn't be more thankful for this partnership.”
“This collaboration shows what can happen when small businesses and local organizations come together and support each other,” says Deb Schaber, president and CEO of the Saint Paul Festival & Heritage Foundation.
“In addition to the synergy between Northern Soda and the Winter Carnival, so many Saint Paul grocers and other retailers will be carrying Minnesota Birch Beer and spreading the word that it’s Winter Carnival time!”
What is Birch Beer? The new soda pop was hand-crafted using cane sugar, a hint of spice, and natural cherry to create a super smooth winter treat. According to Zarghami: “We went with a pre-1900’s recipe that mixes real birch bark oil and just the right amount of sugar. The flavor originated in the Northeastern region of the U.S. and Northern Soda perfected it here in Minnesota.”
