Butterflies are a sure sign that summer has arrived. It's truly a treat to see one resting on a flower sipping the nectar. Besides being beautiful to watch, they are important to our ecosystem because they pollinate plants and eat parasites and insects. They start laying their eggs in the spring and can produce up to four generations in one summer before they begin their trek to Mexico or California to over winter. One of our favorite butterflies is the Monarch. With its beautiful orange and black wings, it is called the "King of Butterflies".
