Guthrie Summer Camps have engaged children and teens
in the magic of theater for more than 20 years.

(Minneapolis/St. Paul) This summer the Guthrie offers a perfect opportunity to inspire young people through theater games, creative movement and engaging fun. With uniquely gifted instructors and a wide range of offerings, Summer Camps at the Guthrie are an ideal way to spend a week igniting passion for theater in young people grades 3-12; weeklong camps begin July 6 and continue through August 14. All levels are welcome. All camps run Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Complete camp information including schedules, teaching artists’ bios and registration information is available at www.guthrietheater.org/camps.

Summer Camps at the Guthrie offer a wide range of performing opportunities for children and teens, including acting, musical theater, Shakespeare and comedy. New this year is a technical theater camp, which teaches teens the tricks of the trade in the world behind the stage.

The Guthrie will also be participating again in the Arts on the River Day Camp June 29-July 2 from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Campers (ages 9-11) will play music, create stories, build books and bake bread while exploring the Riverfront District. Arts on the River Camp offers children a new experience each day to build creativity at four top arts centers, including the Guthrie Theater, Mill City Museum, Minnesota Center for Book Arts and MacPhail Center for Music. Registration is through the Minnesota Historical Society.

Guthrie camps are taught by an impressive roster of teaching artists led by Mark Rosenwinkel. Rosenwinkel’s professional acting career spans nearly three decades and includes work at most major Twin Cities theaters, including the Guthrie. Other teaching artists include performers with local and national credentials in areas including character acting, vocal performance, sketch and standup comedy, stage combat, choreography, European-style clowning, dialects and more! Guthrie 2015 summer camp teaching artists are Betsy Benjamin, Carin Bratlie, Shanan Custer, Paul de Cordova, Laura Esping, Jon Ferguson, Michelle O'Neill, Aaron Preusse, Jan Puffer, Mark Rosenwinkel, D’Arcy Smith, Andrea Tutt, and Eric Webster.
