Shepherd of the Hills Preschool is an outreach ministry of Shepherd of the Hills Evangelical Lutheran Church, who's Mission Statement is to reach, ignite and empower people for Jesus.
At Shepherd, we believe each child is a unique individual, with different interests and abilities, created by God as part of His plan. Through preschool education, we hope to give children and their families the opportunity to recognize and appreciate their uniqueness and their role as members of the family of God.
The preschool was formed to reach out to the community by providing a quality preschool education program within a Christian environment for children and their families. For more information, please contact Jilene Ylonen, Director.
Shepherd offers a variety of classroom scheduling options to accommodate the varying needs and schedules of children and their families. Specific projects and activities may vary from class to class but the same theme, objectives and goals are carried through consistently.
State Licensing and Accreditation
The preschool is licensed and NAEYC accredited for three, four, and five year old classes with a capacity of 20 children with two adults per class. The preschool has been operating since fall 1997.

Lunch Crunch (Monday, Wednesday and Friday 12:00-1:00 p.m.)
Lunch Crunch is a supervised lunch hour that is an extension of our regular classes. Our Red Sheep can stay after class. Blue Sheep friends can come a half hour before class! Bring your own lunch and eat with your friends! Each Lunch Crunch hour is $5.oo sign up with Jilene Ylonen. Please pay by check or have exact amount when paying in the preschool office.
- Preschool Registration
Shepherd of the Hills Preschool is now enrolling! All current families will be able to register returning children and any siblings. Pick up a registration packet in the preschool office. Next year, Shepherd of the Hills Preschool will be opening up a full day, 7am-6pm Preschool. We have a few openings, If you know of anyone who is needing a full day option, please send them our way!
- Half Day Preschool Openings
Openings are still available for 2016-2017 School Year and we are now enrolling! Please invite your friends and neighbors to see our beautiful space, meet our staff and learn more about our Christian based preschool program. We will be accepting children from 33 months–5-year-olds. All children must be potty-trained before school starts.
- Wednesday Night Childcare:
Childcare will be offered Wednesday Nights while programming is in session,
6:30-8:00pm. Please contact Jilene to register.

Winter Fest at Shepherd of the Hills
What: Come and enjoy a fun night with walking tacos, sugar cube castle making, bouncy house, hot chocolate bar, and so much more!
When: Wednesday, February 8th
Time: 6:30 - 8:00 pm
How: Just show up
Cost: Free but if you want dinner suggested donation is $5.00 per person.

Valentine's Day Parents Night Out
What: All children will be divided up based on age, preschoolers will be with Jilene in the preschool room for activities. Under 3 will be in the Full Day Preschool Room or Nursery with our Nursery Coordinator, Sarah Springhorn. Then the Elementary aged children will be down in the Lower Level Assembly with Sister Tashina. This event is intended to be a youth fundraiser, raising money for their mission trip this summer, so the youth will be helping out as well.

Dinner starts at 5pm, we will have pasta, garlic bread, fruit, vegetable, and milk or water. The activities will run from 6-7:30, followed by a movie to end the night. For dinner and the movie all the children will be together, except for the babies and young toddlers. Monster's University is the movie we will be watching and then we will do valentine and monster themed activities.
