Fire Prevention Week

Open Houses this week-end!

The National Fire Prevention Week is from October 4th through the 10th. This is a great time to teach important information to your family about fire prevention. The National Fire Protection Association has put together a checklist for you to utilize. You can find so many other useful resources on the NFPA website.  

 This year's theme for Fire Prevention Week is, "Hear the Beep Where You Sleep -Every bedroom needs a working fire alarm". The location of your fire alarm is so important and I was surprised at the statistic that about half of the deaths reported in fires that occur between sleeping hours of 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. It is very important to not only have a smoke alarm in each bedroom but to make sure that if they aren't hardwired that they have working batteries to ensure you and your family's safety.

Here are some events for Fire Prevention Week:

Lake Johanna Fire Department's Fall Open House-

Date: 10/03/2015 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Location: Fire Station #3,5545 Lexington Ave. N. Shoreview, Minnesota 55126   

This event is free and open to the public! Mark your calendars for all the fun festivities held annually in celebration of Fire Prevention Week. This year’s message is “Hear the Beep Where You Sleep. Every Bedroom Needs a Working Smoke Alarm!”

Planned activities and visits include:

•           Fire truck rides until 1:30 p.m.

•           Grade school poster coloring contest

•           Truck and equipment displays

•           Door prizes and refreshments

•           Firefighter picture boards

•           Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department

•           Allina Transportation Services

 

Vadnais Heights Lions Waffle Breakfast and Fire Prevention Week on.Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Vadnais Heights Commons (655 E County Road F) from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm 

Adults (ages 15-62) pay $7.50, seniors (ages 63+) pay $6.50, children (ages 6-14) pay $4, and tots (ages 5 and younger) dine for free at the all-you-can-eat Vadnais Heights Lions Waffle Breakfast.
